Mike Stein is principal cellist of the NIH Philharmonia and a member of the Arlington Philharmonic. He also plays with the Forest Glen String Quartet and Ensemble 42. Before moving to DC he played with the Battle Creek Symphony and the Lansing Lyric Opera Company. _Pirates_ is his first production with the VLOC. By day he is a computer programmer with Northrop Grumman.
