Only two performances left! Will you be in the audience tonight or tomorrow afternoon? Singer Christie Phillips hopes to see you at the show!

What's your role in La Périchole?
Berginella (2nd cousin)

What's your favorite part of the show?
Perichole's (the character's) many beautiful melodies, particularly the letter aria, during which she mournfully decides to "break up" with her love, Piquillo, and which is subsequently reprised in a violin solo while Piquillo reads and mournfully absorbs the terrible news. Don't worry, though, the melodrama of it is more hilarious than sad, and my other favorite - the drunk aria - is pure silliness.

What made you decide to get involved with this performance?
VLOC casts are wonderful, warm people to work with. I had a lot of fun being in the cast of Robin Hood this time last year. Although I didn't know anything about the story of this opera, some of the arias were familiar to me and it's very exciting to finally learn about the context in which they fit. Offenbach's music is well worth participating in!

When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.)
I am blessed to be raising three amazing daughters, to walk them to school daily, participate in parts of their school operations, and spend my afternoons with them. I love food/cooking and one of my proudest accomplishments in life is cajoling kids and husband to constantly expand their eating repertoires. They all get an A+ according to the "growth model"

Beginning in Summer 2017 I will be working on my MM in voice pedagogy at GMU.

La Périchole has two more performances - tonight and tomorrow afternoon at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater. Tickets can be bought at the door or by calling the F. Scott Fitzgerald box office at 240-314-8690.

Who's ready for more operetta fun? Let's get off to a great weekend by meeting Emma Jensen who plays the title character in our production - La Périchole herself!

What's your favorite part of the show?
One of my favorite parts of this show is the finale of ACT I - I don't want to give to much away, but it is very active and funny for all members of the cast. And the music is so much fun to sing!

What made you decide to get involved with this performance?
I have always love to sing, so much so I got a diploma in vocal performance, I guess I gotta to use it for something. VLOC is a wonderful community of people who love to perform, and it is always a pleasure being with people who have such great spirit.

When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.)
Work, spend time with family and friends, and dream about the next role I get a chance to perform!

La Périchole runs for only one more weekend - March 3-5 at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater. Tickets can be bought at the door or by calling the F. Scott Fitzgerald box office at 240-314-8690.

Are you ready for another weekend of Offenbach's La Périchole?! The production resumes at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater tomorrow night and we hope to see you there! Now let's get back to meeting more of the amazing cast. I'm excited to introduce Amanda Jones!

What's your role in La Périchole?
Ninetta/Ensemble

What's your favorite part of the show?
My favorite part is opening number of the second act. I love the back and forth between the altos and sopranos. It makes for a challenging but beautiful number.

What made you decide to get involved with this performance?
I enjoy all my performances with VLOC. It is a wonderful group of people to perform with. And, I love performing with my daughter!

When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.)
I am a nurse practitioner at NIH. I study a rare lung disease called lymphangioleiomyomatosis. I am also mother to the beautiful and talented Gabriella Jones. I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband Greg and my two dogs, Max and Dorothy.

La Périchole runs for one more weekend - March 3-5 at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater. Tickets can be bought at the door or by calling the F. Scott Fitzgerald box office at 240-314-8690.
