Cast Interview: Tom Zebovitz

Guess what!? We just received our FIRST interview from a member of our fabulous orchestra! Remember our interview series isn't limited to our performers on stage. I'm thrilled to introduce Tom Zebovitz.

What's your role in The Bohemian Girl?

Cellist in Show Orchestra

What's your favorite part of the show?
My favorite part starts right at the beginning and goes all the way to the end.

What made you decide to get involved with this concert performance?
I have played in the orchestra for many VLOC productions over the past years. The cast, crew, and musicians are a great bunch of folks, enthusiastic and talented. It's a great experience playing under Joe Sorge's baton. I'm not sure I've told him this, but he is probably the best musical directors I've played under. With Joy, there is never a question about what beat we are on and what it's time to slow down or speed up. I haven't him this, so maybe he will blush when he reads this.

When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby family, etc.)
This is the happiest time ever in my life. My bride and our two kitties reside in our suburban castle. We surround ourselves with good food, wonderful music, and great friends.

My most exciting project is composing and arranging music for groups of celli. Several times a year, I host cello choirs, consisting of 15 to 20 cellists, to play my arrangements and compositions. Just between you and me, I dream of becoming a composer for movie soundtracks.

For my day job, I'm with the Food and Drug Administration, bossing big multinational companies around and telling them what they have to do.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about yourself Tom! Join Tom and the rest of the orchestra October 8th and 9th at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre! Tickets can be bought at the door, online at vloc.org, or by calling the F. Scott Fitzgerald Box Office at 240-314-8690. Due to construction office hours are currently Tues-Fri, 2:00-6:00pm.

Evening VLOC followers! As all of you know rehearsals are underway for our October concert production The Bohemian Girl. And you know what that means....cast interviews are back!

Our cast and crew are very excited to tell you about themselves. So let's get started. First up - a member of our fabulous chorus - Julia Frank!

What's your favorite part of the show?
Hearing all sort of quotes from other composers in the music -- fragments of Sullivan and Mozart in particular.

What made you decide to get involved with this concert performance?
VLOC helped to fan my children's enduring love of music and now it allows me to exercise my own voice. The annual concert provides a great opportunity for someone who can carry a tune but not much else to work with first rate musicians and hear wonderful music from the inside out.

When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.)
I practice psychiatry and try to keep up with my far flung family.

We're so happy to have you with us, Julia! Please join her and the rest of the cast October 8th and 9th at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre! Tickets can be bought at the door, online at vloc.org, or by calling the F. Scott Fitzgerald Box Office at 240-314-8690. Due to construction office hours are currently Mon-Fri, 2:00-6:00pm.
