![]() We are so excited that The Mikado is off to a fabulous start! Both critics and patrons are giving it rave reviews! If you haven't seen it yet, you still have 3 chances left this coming weekend. Don't miss this super talented cast, which includes Ed Vilade, a wonderful long-time member of VLOC! What's your role in The Mikado? Chorus (gentleman of Japan) What made you decide to get involved with Mikado? I have done every G&S operetta, and am starting on repeats. As long as I can still sing tenor, I will be auditioning. What are you enjoying most about working on Mikado with VLOC? The different and original concept of the show is constantly engaging. Nothing could possibly be more satisfactory (to quote the Mikado) than the fact that this production is culturally appropriate. What is your dream role/job? Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls. I did it about 50 years ago, and would love to do it again. What is the first musical/opera/play you ever saw and what effect did it have on you? First opera: Carmen at the Old Met in New York City. I was transfixed. The music was like nothing I had ever heard, and I decided I wanted to do that. First musical: Camelot original Broadway run. I missed Burton and Julie Andrews, but Robert Goulet was still there. Again, enchanting. When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.) My wife, Alice, and I live in a continuing care community, where all our needs and wants are attended to. No more moving grass or shoveling snow. We love to travel the world, and when home, I play golf, sing and write. Truly my golden years. Thank you, Ed! This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are your final chances to catch The Mikado - get your tickets before they're gone! Call the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office at 240-314-8690 or purchase tickets online here. We'll see you there!
