![]() Ruddigore was a smash hit this past weekend! Have you seen it yet? Don't miss your chance to see the hilarious action (that was given two 5-star reviews!). Today we talk with one of our long-term members, Kevin Caughlan, who has a very happy history with Ruddigore! Name Kevin Caughlan What's your role in Ruddigore? Chorus (bass) When and how did you first get involved with VLOC? I was invited in 1987 by then music director, Barry Morley, to sing in VLOC's production of Ruddigore. He needed a tenor, and I was, at the time, a tenor. When my daughter was 1, I sang with VLOC in Yeomen ot the Guard. That same year, my wife, Jenny, sang in VLOC's The Mikado. My daughter later sang with VLOC in Patience and Elixir of Love. When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.) I was teaching math at the high school level till 2012, when I retired. I have sung in various choruses (Montgomery County Masterworks Chorus from 1976-1981 and Rockville Chorus from 2014-present). I taught math at Sandy Spring Friends School from 1974-1983 where I was introduced to G&S Operettas by Barry Morley and have sung chorus in most of these. I married my dancing partner from Ruddigore in 1989 and have a 33 year old autistic step-son and a 24 year old daughter. Both work at Montgomery County libraries. My daughter is also very musical, having sung with the Children's Chorus of Washington for 6 years until graduating from high school. I am now tutoring high school mathematics and enjoying my retirement. Thanks Kevin! If you haven't seen Ruddigore yet, you only have 3 more chances!
