Here's our first cast interview for "Chris and the Wonderful Lamp"! We're so excited to premiere this Sousa gem in September.

Name
Rand Huntzinger

What's your role in Chris and the Wonderful Lamp?
Mr. Pettingill and Al Khazir

What made you decide to get involved with Chris and the Wonderful Lamp?
I have been performing regularly with VLOC for almost twelve years, so the simplest answer is that I enjoy performing with the company. Concert performances, like this one, aren't quite as demanding as a fully staged production, which makes it a fun activity for the summer.

What are you enjoying most about working on Chris and the Wonderful Lamp with VLOC?
Usually I'm cast as a member of the chorus, so it is fun to have an opportunity to have a solo line and some dialog. However, what enjoy the most with any show is working together with everyone else involved to produce the final result.

What is your dream role/job?
I'm not sure that I have one in particular. I just like to do my best with what I have put before me. I suppose I'd like to try my hand at some larger parts someday.

What is the first musical/opera/play you ever saw and what effect did it have on you?
I'm one of the older members of the cast, so that was quite a long time ago. As a kid, I enjoyed Rogers and Hammerstein musicals and I had a recording of The Student Prince on vinyl which I played a lot. This was undoubtedly one of the sources of my love for music.

When you're not performing in community theatre, what do you do? (job, hobby, family, etc.)
I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I work as a computer system administrator and have been involved with my church for many years
